Andy Clark profile

  • First played for GBCC, it may have been versus Ardleigh Green on the Recreation Ground, circa 1959 and went on to occupy such positions as: Captain 2nd XI; Vice Captain 1st XI; Fixtures Secretary and Hon. General Secretary. Became a Full Member of the Association of Cricket Umpires twenty years later and went on to achieve quite a lot during the following years of officiating at various levels of the game and competitions. "Retired" from "full time umpiring", namely Saturdays, Sundays, and various mid-week games circa 2000. Remained on the MCC list of umpires until fully retiring from all umpiring in December 2015. Notwithstanding that fact, I retain an unshakeable belief all games must be played in accordance with The Laws of Cricket and find it exceedingly sad more players seemingly have no interest in learning of how the most basic of them should be applied - yet many are the first to complain when feeling they have, in their view, been unfairly treated.
