Fantasy super hots, mildly hot & freezing colds!
After a complete washout of all our games last weekend, the playing field is still level for those aiming to be July’s manager of the month and win the monthly prize. Most of you still have your wildcard available, in addition to being able to utilize the triple captain option, so please remember to try and use to prevent Woolfy having more bragging rights.
The super hots!
Someone who is very much super-hot and keeping 53% of you happy is Paul Fenton (£10.3m). Yes, the price tag is hefty, but the points return has certainly been worth it. With an average of 65 points per game in his last five appearances, this isn’t something that can easily be ignored. He is a man that is always involved in the game as he has the overall skills to score points in all three areas as shown by claiming 11 wickets, scoring 112 runs & grabbing 4 catches in his last five games. However, by being the most expensive player in the game, it might require some team surgery if you are looking to transfer him in.
Another transfer option is Paras Jinturkar (£5m) who won’t be short of any confidence having picked up his first senior 5fer last time out. He also has the potential to score bonus runs should the opportunity arise. With only 7% ownership, he can certainly be the difference maker for any team looking to gain a competitive advantage in the month of July.
The wishful hots!
Here are a few players who can be considered as a one-week differential to give you a kick start. The first being Luke Barlow (£4.6m). In the three games he has played so far, he has delivered returns that you certainly wouldn’t be disappointed about. With plenty of runs in the tank and a keen eye for wickets, he is someone that you simply can’t ignore when he is available. He only has 14% ownership amongst us all, so he is certainly my pick for ‘transfer of the week’.
Furthermore, point scoring WKs have been hard to come by this season, with only 2 labelled in that category currently registering above 100 points. One of those is Jack Taylor (£6m). Whilst his price tag is relatively high and you may think money could be better spent elsewhere, this week sees him come back in the 2nd team where he could be back to his swashbuckling best. With the bowlers having a more reliable WK behind the pegs, they will certainly be attacking those outside edges so catches could be aplenty. Runs will be needed and he can have confidence against the bowling lineup he lodged his highest league score of the season first time out in Week 2 of the season.
The freezing colds! (Transfer OUT!)
Having started the season in red hot form scoring 200 runs in the first five weeks, club chairman Andrew Withams (£2.1m) looked to be amongst the best budget batters and was certainly a must have. However, with low availability in recent weeks in addition to a rumour of a potential shoulder injury, his potential for point scoring innings is as cold as the icebergs in Antarctica! Therefore, 44% of you that own him must consider other options or leave him in your side at your own peril.
Finally, another player to consider transferring out is Dave Haley (£4.6m). Another one who started the season hot with 100 runs in his first two innings of the season, he has only mustered up 41 from his next five innings combined. By only being a one-dimensional player, runs are likely to be the only source of points. With plenty of batting options in the side this weekend, will he continue at the top of the order? Or will he shift himself further down?
