Following many years of incredible research by Andrew Clark we have been able to produce a list of known players / members to have played for a Senior team at Great Baddow Cricket Club. Andrew has been able to find records of GBCC playing it's earliest known game on 15th August 1791 against Chelmsford CC. The first detailed reports containing individual player details appear in 1834 and it is from here that we have agreed to start the known list. We could have guessed at a start point to bridge the gap between 1791 and 1834 but from what number? That was simply too difficult. If individual records surface from pre-1834 or we get contacted by a 200 year old former player from 1833 then we will assign numbers backwards starting from B1.
Going forward the Awards Committee each year will review all members that qualify for a Player Number and if agreed they will be added to the list.
Where am I on the list? The list of active players numbers will be made available this weekend at Baddow Rec.
What Now? You can order a special baggy green cap with your player number from Dave Haley for £20 and going forward you can have your player number embroidered on any of your playing kit. Warsop Stebbing have an excellent range of good quality Great Baddow kit that can be ordered and they will be happy to embroider just about anything with your player number for a small fee.
Club ties are also available to purchase for £10 while stocks last.
