It is the weekend you have all been waiting for! Week 1 of the adult league means the start of the much talked about fantasy cricket league. Rumours have been flying around since the launch around who is in who’s team, but most importantly, who is everyone captaining?
If you are undecided on who to choose, then here are a few suggestions to help you.
The obvious picks
Chris Huartson (£10m) / Ramesh Gunalan (£8.5m)
If you heavily invested in all-rounders to return the maximum points possible, then these two are worthy contenders to wear the armband. Having almost scored 400 runs in the last three seasons, Ramesh will look to continue this run scoring against a team he has a great record against. Whilst he hasn’t scored a century in the last two seasons, his last one in 2021 did come against tomorrows opponents and on the very same ground, so he will go into the game high on confidence!
An alternative selection
Albie Nuttall (£9m) / Zoheb Mahmood (£8m)
Whilst the obvious pick would be to select an all-rounder, here are two high priced batter options that you can take a leap of faith with. Having returned to cricket last summer, Albie quickly amassed 300 runs in the 2nd team scoring three 50’s and one hundred in 5 innings. This form continued with another 50 in last weeks friendly in addition to a few bonus wickets. Furthermore, Zoheb never scored single figures last summer, so could be an alternative option for those of you looking for a pure differential play on a ground that regularly sees scores around 200.
A wild idea
Jack Taylor (£6m)
For those of you that are looking for a different tactic, then these two are contenders that should be considered. Having returned to the club last summer, swashbuckling WK Jack could be the ideal option to score both runs at the top of the order in addition to catches behind the stumps on early season pitches.
